Rings

of

Self

Children’s book

Rings of Self began with a simple question: What if each finger held a different truth about who we are? Inspired by the symbolic meanings of rings worn on different fingers, I set out to explore identity through a surreal, poetic lens, creating a story that could guide children through the layered process of discovering themselves.

The main character, Theo, is intentionally made male but looks female and is visually unique. He/she is looking for an identity. Each chapter represents a different aspect of self: Authority, Individuality, Love, Strength, and Communication, using the fingers as symbolic guides. The story unfolds in a dreamlike world where nature listens, and objects speak, reflecting the emotional intensity of inner growth and especially understanding of LGBTQ kids.

Bound by Time, Freed by Art, 2024

This series explores family dynamics and personal identity through 19th-century portraits from a personal collection. Using darkroom film manipulation and embroidery, the work reveals hidden tensions beneath the surface of familial unity, where connection can be both fragile and illusory.

The final piece isolates each figure, highlighting how individuality often emerges only by stepping away from inherited roles.

Exhibited at The Holly Art Gallery, Athens as part of the Art on Loops exhibition.

Miscommunication,2023

What if aliens came to Earth, fully prepared to communicate — they studied our languages, watched our media, and even practised our greetings. But then... they met the wrong creature.

In this comic, an eager alien explorer chooses the first Earthling it sees: an alpaca. Unfortunately, this fuzzy ambassador has a unique way of saying hello — by spitting in the face.

This one-page comic is a playful twist on the classic question: how would aliens communicate with us? Maybe the real problem isn’t language. Perhaps it’s just... bad luck.

Evolution of feminism, 2024

This series of paintings is inspired by the work of surrealist and feminist photographer Lee Miller. By manipulating her archival images, I create a visual narrative rooted in today’s reality, where, despite decades of activism, many women still face violence and inequality.

The perception of feminism is shifting: rather than seeking equality on patriarchal terms, some women are now choosing joy and strength on their own. This project reflects that evolution, from protest to personal power.

Women’s fantasy, 2024

Historically and biologically, women have always faced numerous struggles. The artwork explores a fantasy world where men experience the same challenges that women do. It invites the viewer to see how it might feel for men to endure these hardships from a woman's perspective.

Loneliness, 2024

The artwork explores the relationship between space and emotion. Returning home alone at the end of the day makes the house feel vast and the body small. In such moments, I create art; it expands my presence, transforming loneliness into an open, infinite space beyond limits.

Shoes on the Table, 2023

The painting depicts women in war, often overlooked in comparison to men. While men are honoured as veterans, women are seen as innocent and fragile, and stay at home. Shoes symbolise their role, emphasising and discussing women's contributions to wars as much as men’s.

Sunday morning, 2024

It was a Sunday morning, I was watching the Flintstones, and Mom was yelling at me from the kitchen, asking if I could go to the bazaar with her and help her carry bags so I could get fluffy pink candy from there. I am accepting the deal and feeling pure happiness.

Somewhere Soft, 2024
